The Cellular Jail does not need an introduction as it stays in all of our hearts as a national memorial. It remains as a silent witness of how the freedom fighters were imprisoned and tortured by the British. The Andaman Islands were used by the British to exile notorious criminals immediately after the First War of Independence. Earlier known as 'Kalapani', the Cellular Jail is located in the capital city of Port Blair. The jail was called Kaala Paani because all around the jail was the sea and hence no prisoner could ever hope to escape. The prison initially had seven wings that spread out from the central watchtower, in seven different directions like that of a bicycle wheel. The watchtower housed the alarm bell and guardsmen kept a watch on the prisoners. After the many damages that occurred, there are just three wings that are intact at present. The airport is just 4 kilometres away from the jail.

The Kalapathar Beach is a small quaint beach in the Kalapathar Village, Swaraj Dweep. It is a beautiful beach with silky golden sands, blue waters, and lush green trees around. This beach is not a very popular destination and is secluded most of the time because there are no water sport activities that are available here. The way towards the beach is a very beautiful one; you can catch glimpses of the stunning coastline. The beach goes just by its name numerous black rocks are present inside the water and on the shore as well. The black rocks are the reason why swimming is prohibited on this beach. This beach is just the right place to relax and spend some time with nature as this place is not at all crowded. The ride to the beach is about 15 to 20 minutes from the harbour and the Havelock marketplace.

Elephant Beach at Havelock Island is one of the most distinctive beaches in the Andaman Islands. This is a stunning beach famous for its water activity. Elephant beach is also the most visited beach in the Andaman Archipelago. Once upon a time, there were elephants on the islands they were spotted roaming around on the shores of the beach that is how the beach got its name. There was an elephant training camp close by back then but now there are no elephants that can be seen around the beach. Daily hundreds of travellers move towards Elephant Beach to embark on the most memorable coral island trips. The boats are frequently available at certain time slots. This trip is difficult to be booked on the spot because the permits and boats are pre-booked one day in advance. After visit Elephanta beach go to hotel and take rest.

Neil Island is famous for its natural rock formation. A Natural Bridge structure of dead corals stands beautifully in the Beach no. 2. This attraction is locally called as the Howrah Bridge. The attraction is a natural wonder that was formed by corals over the years and attracts people from all walks of life. The USP of this location is the magnificent natural rock formation. You will have to walk on a wet, rocky path that has dead corals scattered around, it is very tricky and slippery so do wear a good pair of footwear when you visit this place. This place is located 3kms away from the jetty. On reaching the beach you will have to take a walk of about 200 meters from the shore to see the bridge.

Laxmanpur Beach is a stunning beach at Neil Island. This beach is clean, however, it is not recommended to swim at this beach. Laxmanpur beach has the best sunset viewpoint in the entire Andaman Islands without a doubt. This beach is located about 2 km away from Neil Jetty. This beach is mostly visited for the clear waters and striking sunset view. You have to walk around 500 meters to the tip of the coastal line to view the sunset point along the shore. The walk is a bit long to the sunset point but it’s an amazing view. It’s a good sightseeing place for all age groups people. Laxmanpur beach is quite a silent beach. It is a beautiful beach for peace-loving people. Waves of the sea create a mesmerizing scene for spectators.

Morning after breakfast, visit Bharatpur Beach is the most prominent beach in Shaheed Dweep (Neil Island) and also the most visited one too. It is situated about half a kilometer from the island and is ideal for leisurely spending your evenings, swimming, or coral viewing. Bharatpur beach is the only hub for water sport activities in Shaheed Dweep. This beach is considered to be the sunrise point at Neil Island. However, most people visit here for water activities only. There are eateries and food shacks that are set up on the beach from where you can pick up some snacks also try the refreshing tender coconut water. There are proper changing rooms and washroom facilities at the beach that are maintained neatly. You can shop at the stores that are set up at the beach and take walks along the coastline. It is best to visit this beach during the day around 8 AM if you want to indulge in the water sport.
